CARE GUIDE

Stainless Steel

Unless otherwise specified, all metal components (jump rings, charms, clasps etc.) used for Silver Seraph pieces are made from 304 or 316L stainless steel. This means that they are rust resistant, tarnish resistant, hypoallergenic, and extremely durable.

Stainless steel requires very little maintenance, and giving pieces an occasional clean with a soft cloth should be enough to keep them looking new. If you do need to give things a more extensive clean, we recommend submerging the jewellery in a mix of warm water and dishwashing detergent and then giving it a gentle scrub with a toothbrush. If there are other materials used in your piece, just make sure to check their care guide first!

Gold-Plated Stainless Steel

Gold-plated-stainless steel has all the same benefits as regular stainless steel, and can be cleaned using the same techniques. However, please keep in mind that plating will inevitably wear down; continuous exposure to water and harsh chemicals can speed up this process, so taking plated pieces off before showering or swimming is recommended.

Freshwater Pearls

The nacre (outer layer) of a pearl is quite soft, and can be scratched if they come into contact with sharp objects. Avoid wearing any pearl pieces in situations where they may be damaged, and store them separately from other jewellery where possible.

Pearls can also absorb colour, so it's important to make sure they don't come into contact with things like hairdye or fake tan. Avoid exposing them to other chemicals, like chlorine, hairspray, or perfume. To ensure any pearls retain their original colour and luster, we recommend giving them a gentle clean with a soft, damp cloth after each wear.

Gemstones

In general, a gentle clean with a microfibre cloth, either dry or in warm water with a mild soap, is the best method for cleaning gemstones. Exact care processes will depend on the type of gemstone included in your piece; you can find a simple guide for a variety of gemstones here.
